On an early Saturday morning of the 7th of December members of the International Relations Committee met up for a series of lectures.
The training began by meeting a former president of ESN Lithuania (Erasmus Student Network) Gintarė Vaiginytė who told us all about the organization and its Lithuanian branch as well as the origins and hierarchy. We were also introduced to various international ESN events which we look forward to being a part of next year. Gintarė and the members of the committee discussed improvements in the representation of exchange students, as well as new projects and events. A thing to mention, members of our committee are joining the 17th National Platform in Klaipėda next week, so we’ll have another opportunity to represent ESN ISM among other Lithuanian universities.
After an interesting session of questions Gintarė was joined by the president of our Students’ Association - Dalia Miklaševičiūtė. The topic of the presentation was “Internationalisation” and it covered topics such as the Bologna Process, its impact on the current higher education system, student representation on national and international levels. Dalia concluded her presentation with a helpful set of tools to strengthen the International Relations Committee. We had a long constructive discussion about the committee’s future development.
Once the presentations were over we decided to put all of the new ideas in action during a committee meeting. We talked over the current affairs and recent events, made new plans. Once the formal part was over we had team building exercises to find out even more about each other. When the day of training was finally over we couldn’t help but feel like a one big family. All in all, this Saturday was without a doubt one of the most productive and effective Saturdays to date. We deepened our knowledge not only about International Relations concerning ISM, but on a much broader level as well. It was a great opportunity to learn and gain new experience that we cannot wait to put into practice!
